Data protection officers are assuming a more strategic role that goes beyond ensuring compliance with laws and regulation.   The GDPR requires many organisations to appoint a DPO.  Very early on it was all about understanding data protection laws. Now the focus is very much on how we can adapt the organisation going forward.
