AMETEK is a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, headquartered in the United States. Founded in 1930, the company now operates across more than 220 sites worldwide, including 14 business units in the UK.
As part of its ongoing commitment to data protection and regulatory compliance, AMETEK engaged The DPO Centre to review and enhance its documentation and processes in line with the UK and EU GDPR.
The designated Data Protection Manager (DPM) worked closely with AMETEK’s internal Data Protection Lead to develop a unified suite of policies and procedures. These were tailored to reflect the organisation’s structure and rolled out across all 14 UK business units to promote a consistent and compliant approach to data protection.
Given the company’s international reach and frequent data transfers, the DPM also created a comprehensive Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and a retention schedule to meet GDPR Accountability requirements.
To address varying levels of staff knowledge, the DPM delivered targeted training sessions alongside expert advice. These upskilling efforts significantly improved awareness of data protection principles across the organisation and helped embed best practice into day-to-day operations.
Sarah Schroeter, UK HR Manager at Ametek, said:
‘Working with The DPO Centre has been fantastic from start to finish. Our assigned DPM is extremely knowledgeable and provides guidance every step of the way. RoPAs can become very large and complex due to the scale and nature of our organisation. That being said, the task never once felt overwhelming with their help and the team filled us with confidence. The DPO Centre also assisted us with DSAR support, and we continue to feel supported with the evolving data privacy landscape globally.’
