Data Protection funding for charities

The DPO Centre Charity and Community Fund

Our Charity and Community Fund offers data protection funding for UK charities and not-for-profits (NFPs). Eligible organisations are invited to apply for specialist data protection consultancy at an 80% reduced rate, with up to £10,000 of funding available.

Through our work with charities and NFPs, we see first-hand the pressure that limited budgets and resources can place on meeting data protection requirements. We created the fund to help charitable organisations access specialist support where resources or expertise may be limited, and to help make sure as much budget remains with important causes.

The next funding round opens for applications on:

1 March 2027

HOW THIS FUNDING CAN SUPPORT YOUR ORGANISATION

HOW IT WORKS

We have an annual £50,000 funding pot, with one funding round per year

Eligible charities apply for up to £10,000 towards our consultancy services (see below)

After the closing date, we assess all applications independently and contact every applicant with the outcome within a month

You can apply more than once, but we’ll only consider one application in each 12-month period

IS YOUR ORGANISATION ELIGIBLE?

Whatever the size or focus of your organisation, eligible UK charities and NFPs can apply for our funding.

To be eligible, your organisation must have:

UK base
Management committee in place of at least three unrelated people
Bank account in the charity/NFP name

You will also need to:

Meet with a DPO within 12 weeks of signing
Take part in a case study once the consultancy work is complete

Unfortunately we will not be able to accept applications from charities or NFPs who are political in nature.

APPLY IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS

When the funding window opens, fill out the application form below. Tell us about the great work your charity or NFP does, who you help, and the impact our consultancy work will make to your cause.

A member of our team will book a call to discuss your requirements and the package we can offer.

We’ll send you a full proposal based on that call. We’ll need your written approval before it goes forward for final selection.

There is a time limit of 5 working days between each stage, so be sure you can meet these deadlines before applying. If you’re selected, you’ll have 5 days to sign the agreement, otherwise we’ll need to allocate funding to another cause.

All applications are assessed by our charity board who make their selections independently.
