On 27 September 2025, The DPO Centre swapped data for paddles at the sixth annual Ipswich Dragon Boat Race.
The event brought together 22 teams for a day of high-energy racing and community spirit, all in aid of Brave Futures – a charity that provides specialist therapeutic support to children and young people affected by sexual abuse across Suffolk and Norfolk.
Our crew, the Blazing Paddles, saw 11 members of our #ONETEAM power through three heats with determination and camaraderie. Despite our strong finish, it was FTC Men who ultimately lifted the trophy.
Most importantly, the race helped raise vital funds for Brave Futures. Together, participating organisations and supporters have generated almost £50,000, with The DPO Centre proudly contributing £1,535 to the total.
Lenitha Bishop, CEO of The DPO Centre, said,
‘Our team had an incredible day on the water and can’t wait to race again next year. Every splash was for a cause we deeply believe in. We’re grateful to everyone who donated and cheered us on, helping Brave Futures continue their life-changing work.’
The money raised could fund 25 children through Brave Future’s service, reducing waiting times and expanding access to therapy for children and young people in need of a safe, supportive environment to rebuild their lives.
A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who donated and cheered us on — your support made a real impact.
